It looks like a compensator, not a suppressor. (there is no such thing as a silencer as there is always noise from the round being discharged.) In the picture, the object looks too short to be a suppressor, unless it is a new Surefire CQB suppressor. Otherwise, it is a compensator.
Actually, US law (and the ATF) calls them silencers, although I, too, prefer the term suppressor. And yes, that is a suppressor in the picture. The muzzle brake (compensator) on M4/M16's is only about 1-1.5 inches long and approximately the same diameter as the barrel. Them rifles don't kick that much.
uh, ehm ... I was just going through my "to watch" list and saw the little thumbnail of this. Firstly I thought this was some epic movie scene or something ... but no, it's real. the light set is just beautiful and emotional.
